When you purchase Microsoft software with what is known as “Software Assurance,” you generally receive all update versions released during that 3-year period. In exchange, you typically pay nearly double the original price and receive a total of two releases, depending on the update cycle.

If, on the other hand, you purchase used Microsoft Server licenses from Software ReUse, you’ll pay significantly less than the list price, there are no annual Software Assurance fees, and you aren’t forced to install a new version that might not fit into your company’s internal update cycle anyway.

Extended Support for Microsoft Server Licenses

Just as with Microsoft Office and other products, Microsoft provides extended support for its server licenses for 10 years after release. In some cases, this support is even extended further.
